Stories of Resurrection: Canvas

As we continue to process through the significance of the resurrection, we’ll take a look at our “canvas”. If you were at Pathways last week, you know what I’m talking about. If we missed you, we missed your contribution to our “Mess” as we invited everyone to paint on a large canvas. It’s our very own mess.

When Christ promises new life and redemption to us, we often expect it to come with a blank canvas. In reality, God works with the canvas that has already been painted in our lives, or our community, as he brings transformation to our hearts and lives. The beauty comes out of the mess, not in spite of the mess.

Good Friday

The shadow of the crucifixtion approaches with Easter and it is important that we remember the darkness as it makes the light all the more bright.

Join us at Faith Fellowship Church at 7:30pm on Good Friday for a rememberance in shadows.

Stories of Resurrection: Easter Sunday

This weekend is the celebration of the very core of why we follow Jesus. Without the resurrection, He was just another teacher. Without the resurrection, He was a good guy with good ideas who made a sizeable mark in history. However, if the resurrection took place, it is impossible for Jesus to simply be another teacher or just a good guy. It is the very crux of our faith.

Easter also promises resurrection for those who follow Jesus. Yes, that comes in the form of the eternal presence of God, but that no, that doesn’t start after we die. It starts now. Resurrection begins when I invite the presence of God into my life and allow Him to redefine my value, my character, even my name.

This weekend and for the following three weeks, we will be talking about “Stories of Resurrection”. Not people being raised from the dead, but people being raised from death to life. Do you get the difference? I hope that you will by the time Easter has passed us by.

WARNING: We will not be at Heatherwood Middle School this weekend!

I hope that we have gotten the word out to everyone possible – we will not be Heatherwood this weekend. Instead we will be meeting at Holly Hill Farms for a joint worship service with Faith Fellowship Church. The time is still 10am, but we will have use of the facility until 1pm as we celebrate the Messiah and eat together. The meat/bread/utensils/drinks will be taken care of but we would love for you to help us to provide a side dish (last name A-M) or a dessert (N-Z). Click here for complete information on our Easter Season Gatherings.

Things to Remember:
* Bring Your Own Chairs (B.Y.O.C.)
* We are not at Heatherwood Middle School (It will be very quiet there)
* Don’t dress fancy – not that any of you need that, but I thought I’d throw it in
* Tell anyone you know not to go to Heatherwood (Did I say that already?)

A Beautiful Mess: Servants, Judges and Apostles

This weekend we are diving into 1 Corinthians 4:1-21. I’d encourage you to read it and think through a few things:

What does it mean to be a “servant” or “steward” of Christ?

What would it mean for all of us to pray that God would “bring the darkness to light”?

Paul paints a pretty grim picture of the apostles being at the end of a procession on the way to the arena. What do you think Paul is trying to communicate through this picture?

We’ll keep reminding you, but please remember that next weekend (Palm Sunday) we will NOT be meeting at Heatherwood Middle School. Instead we will be joining with Faith Fellowship Church at Holly Hill Farms for a huge celebration of the coming of the Messiah into the world.
