Greetings to all,

[May God bless you with anger
At injustice, oppression and exploitation of people
So that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.
May God bless you with tears
To shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger, and war
So that you may reach out your hand to comfort them
And turn their pain into joy.
And may God bless you with enough foolishness
To believe that you can make a difference in the world,
So that you can do what others claim cannot be done
To bring justice and kindness to all our children and the poor.]

I do not agree that Jesus blesses this way. If the formula is right then motive to change oppression and exploitation comes from a motive of love. Tears are not what God wants from His people, as He will wipe them away someday. And the Bible plainly tells the reader not to be foolish in their ways, as foolishness is a byproduct of this world and only spiritual matters can be handled by spiritual discernment.

I see the point here in this poem, but it will not be a prayer of mine as I wish for the things God wants for me. First, He wants for me to recognize that I am a sinner in need of His grace. Second, in a genuine life of repentance, the blessings of which are already given can become apparent to me. These blessings are not for self, but for others, allowing that which I can do, as Jesus instructed Peter, in feeding the sheep.

Fruit of the Spirit no way includes anger, tears or foolishness. They are contrary to these things. Faith itself, love, joy, longsuffering and peace are such things and for these I spend prayer energy on.

Before anything, a personal relationship with Christ is foremost. This is the first commandment when the young man in scripture asked. To love God with your all, and second, to love your fellowman as God loves us. When this is followed with the motive of love all else will take it course.

It is like thanking God FOR all things, and this is not scripture. But, to thank God, IN all things, there is a vast difference.

Read John 15 and abide in Jesus and He in you and all will be on course. Never have I read in scripture Jesus ask God for blessings of anger, tears, or foolishness, but rather that God’s will be His will. May God Bless us all and never may we be confused by that which is truly contrasting to His word, and for which He wishes for His followers.

May God’s love be enough in motivating with guidance from His Holy Spirit to do what is right.
